Here is a virtual tour of a typical trip out to the island on one of our pontoon boats.
Here is a video of your trip out to the Sandbar and North Anclote Beach
Once you leave our marina, your trip begins with a 20 minute idle up our canal - the "Urban Experience" - looking at pretty waterfront house and boats.
Towards the end of the channel you will see some mangroves on the right and several great fishing spots right in our canal.
At the end of the canal you will see five sets of red and green markers - now you can power up the boat, but stay between the markers.
In the distance on the left you will see Anclote Key - a very long island. You are going to steer to the right of this island as your destination is North Anclote Sandbar
At first the sand bar is difficult to see because it is very flat, but you will see it before you are half way across the bay.
Once you arrive at the island you can slowly cruise up and down the beach looking for your perfect spot! The water is very clear and you can see the bottom to gauge depth.
Once you are safely anchored with 2 anchors you can go explore the beach and shoals, swim, snorkel, go shelling or just lie out in the warm Florida sun!
There is GREAT shelling on the West side of the sand bar. You can also walk out into the Gulf of Mexico for almost half a mile on souft sandy bottom and never get more than waist deep!
Bring your beach chairs and relax, or go swimming or snorkeling in the crystal clear waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
The sandbar is in the foreground North of Anclote In this aerial photo you are looking South. In the background you can see Anclote island where you can visit either the North beach or the Southern beachs of the big island. The beach facing West Is prohibited due to waves and can be danergous once the sea breeze kicks up.
This is the North Beach of Anclote. There is a primitive rest room just off the beach. During a big tide swing the current here can get quite strong.
This is the South Beach of Anclote. There is a lighthouse, a nature trail board walk, a nice lagoon to swim in and picnic tables and chairs.
This is also the South Beach of Anclote - directly across a small bay opposite the light house. The beach is a gret place to go shelling.
After a great day exploring our islands it is time to head back down the channel to our marina. From the North sandbar and beach it takes about 45-60 minutes to get back.
Here is a video of the Sandbar, and yes, the water REALLY is that clear and beautiful!
Here is a video of Anclote North Beach, another popular destination!
Here is a video of Anclote South Beach, another great destination!
