Come down to Gulf
Harbors in New Port Richey and rent a WindRider Trimaran 16 foot
sailboat. It is FAST, EXHILARATING and very easy to sail. Easy to sail,
but you MUST have some sailing experience as you will out of sight of
our marina, on your own. If you don't know how to sail, we offer sailing
lessons for an additional charge of $50.
It's been called
"armchair" sailing. With only one line to adjust the sail and foot
steering, the WindRider is the easiest sailboat in the world to sail. You face
forward in a comfortable seat with a backrest, protected by the hull and
with your hands free to control the single line. Go ahead and take
pictures, enjoy a beverage - all at the same time! This tri-hull is very
safe and cannot capsize. Neither do you have to duck under the boom as
it is higher than your head. Most beginners learn how to sail in less
than 10 minutes and become an "expert" after an hour's practice.
This sailboat can
take up to three passengers, one in the cockpit and one on each
trampoline. We provide a dry storage bag for your personal possessions.
Small coolers are available for rent - $2 each including ice.
Our rental sailboats
come with a small outboard engine, so if the wind dies, NO PROBLEM!

The Location - how it works |
|
Sailing the
Area
You can take
your rental sailboat up the main channel under engine power (you can
sail up it with East winds, but this is not common - a 20 minute
motor is more likely) with beautiful homes and boats to view on the 1.5 mile trip.
Once you are past the Gulf Harbors Yacht Club you can turn into beautiful
Green Key Bay and begin sailing.
The adventurous
can even head offshore into the Gulf of Mexico. Just a 3 mile sail
away you can reach Durney Key and the famous stilt fishing houses
built over the water. Relax on Durney Key beach and sail back home
again with our typical West winds funneling down the channel.
